Monitor any local LAN TCP network host from Elan and create event maps for Host Up / Host Down State.
The driver does not use PING but tries to connect to an actual TCP socket on the host and report the connection status. This is more reliable for monitoring services and hosts rather than just hosts.
Go to Sense Inputs, then add New Input Controller.
Navigate to the folder where the driver is located and Choose the WatchDog
You’ll receive a warning that this is not a Native Elan driver, click OK
Polling Time: (default 30 seconds) Choose the Polling time to check the host
NOTE: The more hosts you monitor the longer the polling time should be. This will reduce network traffic and controller load. In general for every 2 hosts go the next level of polling.
IP Address / Port: the driver will try to connect automatically with the device to check if the connection was successful. You must find a port number on the device that can receive TCP connections. Any port number will do. To find a port number, turn on your device, use a tool such as NMap or Advanced Port Scanner. It’s recommended that you first run the scanning tool when the device is off then when it’s on and pick the port number that is only accessible when the device is on.
The Driver has a built Event that will trigger whenever a WOL packet is sent and the driver receives a connection confirmation. This will only trigger if option (D) above is set.
To Create an Event, Right click the WatchDog State 🡪 Create Event Map For 🡪 State Change off
🡪On
The Driver supports
Off to On for when the host goes from DOWN state to UP state
On to Off for when the goes from UP state to DOWN state.
